I love this painting. It is precious because it reminds me of what heaven would look and feel like and the angel is amongst all that beauty. Your work is full of suprises and emotion.

I really like what you have posted--the process of a painting. I,too, do many layers and it is hard to know when one is finished.

I really like the late August version. I think I can see through the lines of colour to the "underpainting". At this point it seems to reveal the depth you want.

the ground, the roots..are strong in color.. what rises above houses or materialism, is the light colors and refined lines of the flowers..your spirituality.. the purple and blue color show the evolution of the spirit..
there are still many fine lines and dots to fill your paintings, many issues to be solved .. an indication that when you paint you let it all out, those daily matters that bother all of us..
You are a well balanced human being, making en equilibrium between your body and soul.. and you certainly are a spiritual guy who longs to be free again from that prison we live in, our bodies.

A friend just directed me to your posting and I couldn't agree more. I believe all the arts are an important part of the education system. It frustrates me to say the least how much the arts have been marginalized in our society, yet it's the one area most often which engages at-risk youth.

Last weekend I had the good fortune to hear Sir Ken Robinson talk about music and the arts in our educational system. He's phenomenal. You should check out his website:
www.sirkenrobinson,com

I think you will find his philosophies nicely complement your ideas.

gary, i so love this photo of you in your studio, surveying your progress. i have done this many times....sometimes it is the agony and sometimes it is the ecstacy.....i applaud your efforts to share this with the world and invite people into your studio, and totally understand that feeling of vulnerability! your work is lovely and interesting and you have my attention : D i didn't realize until seeing this that you are using acrylics--for some reason i thought you were a pastellist but maybe you are both! this painting is coming along nicely.

Gary...
You remind me of what Jackson Pollock said when someone asked him how he knows he is done with a painting. He said..."It's like making love, you know whenyou're finished."
Thanks for sharing. I fall in love with all of my paintings.
